I'm not going to go into each and every detail of why I don't think they should be considered role models because, all four of these women have amazing talents, and have a true understanding of business, but I wouldn't say I consider them to be the complete package of a role model. Nor do I believe entertainers are role models, or they should have the responsibility of teaching our children right from wrong. I believe a parent is a child's first role model, and it's their job to help their children distinguish the difference between idolizing someone and respecting their craft.
I do think it's our job to say what's acceptable on TV and what isn't. You can do this by simply not watching and supporting these shows. To be honest I can count on one hand how many times I watched "Atlanta Housewives", "Basketball Wives", or "Love and Hip Hop" each and every time I watched one of these shows, I turned off my TV feeling drained and angry. This is exactly why you have to be careful of what you allow to enter your mind. I must admit I am a fan of the "Braxtons", and that's my personal preference although Tamar is off the chain.com. The show isn't about constant drama, and I actually find it pretty humorous. This comes from a person who only allows herself to watch a hour or two of TV a day.
I wish each and everyone of these women, the best of luck in all that they do. Do I consider them "ROLE MODELS"? In the words of the late great Whitney Houston... Did you really think I was going to say it? Well you know what I really wanted to say, but I'll take the higher road and say NOT AT ALL!! Blog with me!!!
